SENIOR DEES HIT THE DECK

More senior Melbourne players have hit the track early this pre-season, joining dual All-Australian Max Gawn in lacing up the boots.

Jack Viney, who led the Demons alongside Nathan Jones in 2019, could be the sole captain in 2020 and he is already leading by example, training with Melbourne’s first to fourth year players.

Jones elected to step down from the role earlier this year.

Fresh off signing a big contract extension with the Demons, James Harmes was also back out on the track for an early return, as was the lightning quick Jayden Hunt

DOCKERS OUT IN FORCE UNDER NEW COACH

Several senior Fremantle players have made an early return to the club under new coach Justin Longmuir.

Rory Lobb and Michael Walters have already been spotted at Dockers headquarters, but on Friday, Brandon Matera and Stephen Hill joined in training.

Hill had an injury-plagued 2019 campaign but has signed on at Fremantle, in what is a boost for the club after losing his brother, Brad, to St Kilda.

EXPERIENCED BLUES GREET FANS AT OPEN TRAINING

Senior Blues Levi Casboult, Liam Jones and Charlie Curnow were out at Ikon Park to welcome the club’s fans at their open training session on Friday.

In another positive for Blues supporters, injury-plagued defender Tom Williamson was also out on the track.

New Blue Marc Pittonet also got the chance to meet the fans of his new club on Friday morning.
