Anthony Davis was booed on his return to New Orleans.
It didn’t exactly work as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, who forced his way out of the Pelicans, dropped a season-high 41 points, along with nine rebounds, in a 114-110 win on Thursday (AEDT).

Davis missed his first shot and three of his first four to the delight of the crowd, but still scored 27 points by halftime.
He also had the clutch play of the game; the 26-year-old coming up with the steal with 5.3 seconds on the clock, before being fouled and sealing the result at the free throw line.
LeBron James wasn’t bad, either. The 34-year-old joined the 33,000-point club on the way to finishing with 29 points and 11 assists as the Lakers clawed their way back from 16 points down.
Kyle Kuzma finished with 16 points, including nine in the fourth quarter.
Jrue Holiday, who tallied 29 points and 12 assists, was the standout Pelican. Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram had an inefficient 23 points (4-of-21 FG) against his former team, while Josh Hart added nine off the bench.
The win, their ninth straight, saw the Lakers improve to 16-2, while the Pelicans dropped to 6-12.
