Oh no! Dragons star Korbin Sims re-breaks broken arm from 2019

The Dragons are having no luck with injury at the NRL Nines in Perth after it was revealed that forward Korbin Sims has re-broken the arm he snapped during last season.

The news comes after reports Dragons youngster Matt Dufty is set to face surgery in Perth after suffering a suspected fractured cheekbone.

Fox League reporter Lara Pitt said Sims “was very upset” on the sidelines of the tournament in Perth as he faces going under the knife again to repair the damage.

Last year, Sims broke his arm during the Dragons’ 13-12 golden point win over Newcastle in April.

At the time, he took to Instagram, posting a photo of his x-ray and saying: “Thanks everyone for the messages and sorry if I haven’t got back to you all. Surgery soon and then on the mend.”

He also said that he will now have matching metal plates in each arm.

Meanwhile, Dufty was taken to hospital after a head clash in the Nines, and Pitt tweeted he could be sent straight in for an operation.

Anthony Milford won’t play on day two of the NRL Nines in Perth after tweaking his hamstring.

The Broncos are expected to send him for scans after the Brisbane outfit lost to the Cowboys.

There was better news for Michael Maguire, however. The Tigers coach reckons his heart skipped a beat when Paul Momirovski’s knee got twisted and the centre came buckling out of a tackle.

The Tigers confirmed on Saturday morning Momirovski actually injured his ankle and will be sidelined for two to three weeks.

The question the Wests Tigers now really want answered is where is the Momirovski-Harry Grant exchange deal with the Melbourne Storm up to?

And the answer is we should get a clearer picture in the next 72 hours once the Melbourne Storm make their next move.

The exchange deal for Momirovski to go to Melbourne Storm for this season and young gun Harry Grant to become the Wests Tigers hooker looked all sewn up bar the shouting.

The paperwork has been submitted to the NRL.

Trouble is, the Storm made a miscalculation in relation to their salary cap and as it sits right at the moment they can’t quite fit him in. It’s believed that the move would put the Storm club over the cap by as little as $15,000.

The Tigers need an answer by Monday or Tuesday next week because if it’s not happening then captain Moses Mbye needs to start training at hooker.

Mbye has spent some time in at dummy-half over the summer but if the Grant deal’s off, he’s the Tigers No. 9 for round one.

South Sydney’s Queensland forward Ethan Lowe was pulled from the field looking forlorn.

Initial fears were that Lowe had suffered a medial knee injury. and he will seek further treatment on Saturday.

In the women’s competition, Dragons player Holli Wheeler ruptured her ACL on Friday.
